“Girls ass liking to boys”
Upon checking out my blog stats this morning, I noticed that someone had been led to my blog using the search function. They had stumbled across it by searching the phrase above. I honestly have no idea what it means.
But I can probably guess that my blog was not what they had in mind when they searched for it.
Though I am amused on the surface when something like this happens (I’ve had several occasions of people finding my blog by entering some variant of “fast food calorie counter,” and thus being led to my entry that chides them for exactly that—and what’s even funnier about THAT little bit of irony is the fact that that entry also contains a random story about porn that NOBODY searching for a fast-food calorie counter would expect), on a deeper level I find it amazing. It’s amazing how you can write a thing and then characterize it with certain words and phrases, so that when other people look for something with those words and phrases, they are directed to the thing you wrote.
It kind of makes me wish I’d tagged all my blogs with stuff like President Obama, healthcare, the Jonas Brothers, Iran, Jon & Kate Plus 8, Kim Jong-Il, Sarah Palin, Michael Jackson, marijuana, Wal-Mart, Congress, various reality TV show titles, MTV, Twilight, Jesus Christ, Billy Mays, terrorism, Osama bin Laden, porn, Lady Gaga, Harry Potter, Seth Rogen, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Starbucks, and probably President Obama again—just to receive more traffic on the blog despite none of the entries pertaining to ANY of those actual things.
Is that exploitative? Of course. But that’s the American Way.
Lately on my Twitter page, I’ve begun doing fake “quotes of the day,” wherein I will either type a random inane quote (such as, “Alright, who farted?”) and attach it to an equally random historical figure (such as Thomas Jefferson), or take a famous quote made by a historical figure and butcher it to the point of embarrassment (a recent example: “Ask not what Coca-Cola can do for you, but what you can do for Coca-Cola.” – JFK). It’s just something fun I decided to do, and it gives me a chance to be funny in a more clever, satirical way. Am I exploiting the integrity of all these historical figures for cheap laughs? You better believe it. Do I care? No.
I’ll be honest: there wasn’t much of a point to this post besides the fact that I’m going to tag this with every single thing I mentioned herein. Let’s see how much extra traffic I get now…
Until next time,
